ambies

i suppose my first experience with the DePaul Ambassadors was when I came to Debut DePaul when i was a senior in highschool, and stayed overnight in U-Hall. all i remember about that was some people in hockey jerseys with "ambassadors" written in script across them - and I got a towel and a washcloth that said "DePaul University" on them. other than that...

freshman year i first joined as a general member (hosting, working at events, blah) for the whole year, and at the end decided to apply for an e-board position. I got accepted as the Male Overnight Host Coordinator! (yay!)

at first, i realized that i had no idea what i was doing. of course, i didn't have to do anything until the school year started, but over the summer i contemplated the idea of dropping out of ambies. as soon as i went on the retreat, though, that changed - i was horribly shy at first, as is usually the case with me and new people - but i started to feel better about what i was doing.

essentially, my job consists of finding boys on campus to let other boys sleep with them. hehe. prospective students (or their parents) call the admissions office to schedule an overnight stay - i get the information and find someone in my database - then make phone calls and everybody's happy. sometimes it seems like i get all stressed out over it, but i have the tendency to overreact even when i know it's not a big deal. we have meetings every week or two, and it's pretty straightforward. i don't think i said very much in the meetings during first quarter and not much this quarter - but i'm getting better. i still get all nervous, but now i feel more justified in saying things.
