family vacations

ever since i was born, my family has been going on vacations together. i think this is a very important catalyst in becoming close - spending 4, 10, 12 hours together in a car and such.

we go 'up north' every year, and this started when i was about two years old. we were staying at a place called the the Homestead, and every time we would leave the resort to go into town, i would say "i wanna go back up norf!" (how cute.) the Leelanau Peninsula of Michigan, otherwise known as the little finger to Michiganders, is like a second home to me. we don't go to the Homestead as often any more, but we used to go every winter so that my dad and my sister could ski - but we still go to the Jolli Lodge every summer for one week in June.

we've also been all over the midwest together - a trip through Wisconsin including the Baraboo circus museum, the House on the Rock, and also the Upper Peninsula of Michigan - various places in Ohio, mostly Toledo and Cincinnati (the latter where we have relatives) and also all over Michigan. we've been once to Florida, and once to New Hampshire, both times to visit family.
